kinda curious how did Nissan get the contract from cummins vs dodge?
these 1500 diesel definitely have my attention, can't wait to see how they hold up/ do for real world mileage.
During the bankrupcy the contract for a small diesel engine from Cummins was cancelled as part of the "Old" Chrysler.
Cummins had already been pretty deep into development so I'm assuming they were shopping around. Nissan joint with them along with the Gov't a few months back to test a smaller Diesel for MPG's (I believe it was a 2.8L 4cyl in a Titan).
Chrysler being owned by Fiat, went with a VM 3.0 V6 Diesel for all of their SUV/Light Duty trucks instead.
Ram's President Fred Diaz was then pursuaded to leave Ram and go to Nissan, a month or so later, this announcement comes out - coincidence?
