OBS, no smog so sky's the limit. They are going up in value for this reason as newer trucks are going down.

You can mod a OBS to ride as good or better than any SD, interior swaps easy and have all the HP needed for the street .

My built OBS is quieter than my EB Excursion with single shots..

for 2000
pros
still no smog on it unless it has a cat from the factory(my 02 doesn't)
better interior/modern exterior
rear disc brakes
better turbo and intercooler 250hp stock
rear shackle on the rear of the front springs so a better ride

cons
higher insurance
Dana 50 on the 2000
unit bearings
wider/taller than a obs

97 f350
pros
Dana 60
serviceable wheel bearings
parts are cheap for it/easy to find,

cons
extend cab doesn't have doors for the rear
rear drum brakes
gvwr/gcwr might be lower than the SD(can't find specs for the OBS) something to consider if you plan on towing

those are the big ones i can think of, in the end they are both great trucks/good platforms, it basically depends weather you want a more modern truck or a older looking truck, both are 13+ years old,

out of the box, no upgrades
ride SD > OBS for 4wd for 2wd i would say =
power SD > OBS
Noise SD = OBS been a few years since i rode in a 7.3 obs but either way the 7.3 is a loud motor, noise can be fixed with sound deadening, like dynomat, or the cheap Home Depot special matting .
