Badges??????

From late 1999 - 2004 and on Ford used the same diesel badges on the door. Can any of you tell me what you look for when a truck is running down the road to signify if it is a 7.3 or 6.0. The body styles are he same. Early 99 have the V8 logo, I know this. But how can you tell a 2001 7.3 from my 2004 6.0 going down the road.
I KNOW there are some Kats here whom can answer this.

7.3 were still in production in 2004 along with 6.0L. So how can you tell the dif without lifting the hood.

Negative. Ford DID NOT use the same diesel badges on the door from 99-04. the 03-04 6.0's all have the same logo on the door. 05-07 6.0's have a different emblem

and the 7.3ls have the old badge. Altho some of the early 99's have the fender 'Powerstroke V8" badges, and or the regular door emblem

The badge you have on your truck(i assume yours is an 04) is the 6.0 badge.

And this is the late 99-03(and some early 99's) 7.3 door badge.



And this would be the 03-04 6.0 badge

You mean the V8 badge on the Quarter panal? All 7.3 have this badge?

No. Look above at the pictures i added. The Powerstroke V8 badge on the front fenders that you are refering to is whats on most of the early 99's(but not all of them.)

im going to have to dissagree with you bud.... only the 05+ have those newer badges... the 03 and 04 6.0L didnt have those... they are slightly different than the 7.3L ones

This is the correct answer.

Also, early 99 trucks can have the door badge OR fender badge.

my early 99 has the fender V8 badge but you cant tell its a diesel unless its running or if you actually look at it.

i look to see if the badge is there at all to see if it's a diesel first, then look at the headlights, then listen for ridiculous turboness. Lol! But i know from being on here that doesn't mean it's what it really is. With turbo switcheroo's and front end conversions, etc.
