im 90% sure its stored in the Cluster because if you put a new on in, you have to have it programed with the old mileage, but i can remember if the new cluster will come up with a error or the cluster mileage (i know it came up with error on 05-08 f150s because i wanted to swap a xlt cluster into my old stx)

but like i said i am only 90% positive.
