Official Build thread to help a Vet in need
This will be the official build thread for the repairs that will take place on member lifechanger's (Mike Cover) truck. He is an 80 year old veteran that essentially got delt a crappy hand.
I Give Up for the 80yr old...??
Mike lives off of $1000 a month from social security, and as many of you know that is pretty hard to live on with the ever increasing cost of living.
Several members on this site, including myself, saw Mike's desperation when he was willing to trade his truck and travel trailer for a Golf cart just to be able to get around. The worst part about this, is that while members were stepping up to offer any kind of assistance they could, some member's actually tried to give a run down golf cart and a sport ATV to this man.
Being appalled by this I called Mike and offered to fix his truck, free. My wife is an active duty Captain in the Army and I am National Guard/ROTC at OSU and we decided the right thing to do is to buy Mike an engine. Through the strong bonds the diesel community shares with each other, other members decided to offer expertise, money and parts they have laying around to get Mike's truck back on the road.
This thread will have the names of the vendors who decided to step up and help an 80 year old veteran in need. Mike has agreed to put the names of every vendor who helps on his truck. Furthermore a lot of members here will take note of those who help...and those who don't, when they make another purchase for their truck.
Here is the Google Document link where we have the list of parts we have and need. This is open to the public. If you feel we need anything else then please add to the list. As a reminder, this is not a 600hp build, just a stock reliable build.
Donations can be made via paypal:
Oak Hill Used Auto Parts
Brad Mathews, owner of Oak Hill Auto parts just donated a complete running engine.
Here is another list besides the Google document. We will keep this update and if there is anything else that may have been missed or should be added, let us know and we will take care of it.

As you guys can see we are in need of a early 6.0, please spread the word and donate what you can. Every little bit helps. If you know of any companies that might be willing to help please point them our way. Lets get this vet the help he needs. He fought for us so now its time for us to fight for him!
So far what I gathered it needs a new block (short block prefered since the pistons and such on the even bank are shot)..think I read a new wiring harness too since the hot side CAC rubbed it. HPOP, lots of gaskets, lots of sealant, and lots of fluids. I'm sure they're still working on a parts list, don't think its made it to a shop yet to get the full run down.
I'm going to talk to my wife when she gets home to see if she'd be opposed to donating my core return from my injector to the cause. It won't buy a new motor, but it will be a step in the right direction. You guys are great for helping Mr. Mike out
P.S. I even linked this build to my Facebook. I've had lots of people willing to help me fix my truck and most of my friends are vets themselves. So hopefully you guys will see some random donations and maybe we'll even gain some non PSD owner members in here
