What is a high idle mod

i have some questions about a high idle mod, what does it acually do? Like i know that it idles higher but is there a benift for doing this?

It helps to warm the truck up quicker in cold temps and also the opposite , during hot weather, when idling you can bump the idle up to alow the a/c compressor to spin faster and enable better a/c output. Its an easy mod to accomplish and I use mine quite a bit actually.

so it wont hurt the motor at all or anything like that

No, not at all, its actually a factory Ford option that's already in the trucks pcm programming and wiring harness for PTO function. Heres a link on how it's done and more info. High Idle Mod

That mod is for 6.0s only the only way to get a 7.3 to high idle is to get like a tw chip with a high idle burn
