05 6 liter wiring harness in front of radiator fan

So on my trip home today over Wolf Creek Pass the check engine temp light came on. Immediately pulled over and started trying to figure out why. Fluid okay, no leaks, no nothing. Turned truck on and saw the fan wasn't turning. Turned it off. Fooled with fan and got it to turn manually.
Felt like something had been stuck in the fan, possibly a rock?? Got home okay and found a wiring harness with a plug on the end that was hanging down at the bottom of the radiator, this wires to this plug came out of the front of the fan. There was a plastic mounting bracket on it that was broken in two pieces. I am pretty sure this broke and came loose from under a cover mounted on top of the radiator and then jammed the fan. I am thinking this is the diagnostic plug wiring harness. Any one know for sure.
