Floor Jack Problems (Help!)

I am getting ready to rotate the tires on my 95 7.3L and my Craftsman floor jack was not jacking all the way up so I decided to top it off with Jack Oil. Well now I have a great mess! Took out what I thought was the fill cover/hole cap and it had a spring an a ball bearing in there. Tried filling it and oil came out everywhere. Now it won't jack at all. Question is where is the dang fill hole and how do I fill it. Some say have the jack raised and suck the oil as it goes down and others say have it down level with the ground and fill it and pump it up? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
