Diesel MPG question

Hey all, so im new to this forum. i am not a PSD owner, i do own an 06 F-150 5.4L =]. however i am looking to get a Diesel (ford of course) sometime in the near future, like fall-ish. anyway, i have some questions pertaining to diesel ownership.

-About how many MPG would i get in a 7.3L PSD in a F-350 Crew Cab short bed?
how much would that change with upgrades, like a stack, chip, Programmer module, lift kit, Off road tires, stuff like that.
- i tried searching for all this but came up with nothing, but whats the size of the fuel tank in one of those trucks?
- and is it bad to buy a diesel that has say 150K miles? even if it was taken care of well? i know diesel's are partly known for long life. but i could be wrong.

well my chip changed my mileage from about 14 to 20 on the highway but the lift will maybe make it godown a little but the intake and exhaust will help if your going to pull its the only way to go o and welcome

i believe they have 38 gallon fuel tanks, and if the truck was well maintained then your just breaking that badboy in at 150K go for it if its the right price, in my 99 250 7.3 i get between 17-22 based on my foot.

I think the mpg's would depend mostly on how you drive. What year were you looking at getting? I know i got better mpg on my 97 than i do on my 01. I would say anywhere from 12-20mpg. There are just a lot of variables that you have to take into consideration. With my 97 i got easily 17mpg, but with my 01, 16mpg is GOOD! Both of these trucks were 4wheel drive which also affects your mpg. You get less with a 4x4. Typically like only 1mpg less, but less nonetheless. When you add the mods, IF you can keep your foot out of the floor.... you can get decent mileage, but most folks see a decrease because its soo hard to not get on the pedal! :burnout

I sure wouldnt be scared of buying a stroker with 15ok on it. 2 of my last 4 trucks had well over 200k on them and were still going strong. My 97 that i sold had 143k on it and drives like a dream and still gets 18mpg. And my dad has actually gotten 21mpg out of it in 4wheel drive, but he was only doing 40mph. My 01 now has 114k on it and runs like a top. 150k is not too much for a good diesel, but it will be more difficult to get approved for a loan for one if needed. I WOULD make sure the trans is in good shape ith that many miles and see if you can get records of maintenance on it so you can see that it was properly taken care of.

mine is a 2003 6.0 crewcab 4x4 long bed and ive been getting 17mph..when i get the extra money im going with the quadzilla. i could afford to do all i want to with my truck but..4 bucks a gallon hurts me....
