Turbo whistling?

2001 F250 7.3 auto, bought new, has a western diesel chip & boost tube in vac line going to waste gate. I was pulling a trailer weighing about 10,000 lbs up a grade, trans down shifted, engine rpm up, 1 loud pop & a whistling sound started. no more pop, whistles now on acceleration & pulling loads, is the waste gate stuck, truck still runs real good. went on a 1800 mile trip up hills & down with a 7000 lb trailer @ 75 just a whistling. What should I look for?

Maybe one of the intake boots is loose or has a leak? Check all connections.

turbo whistling

I have checked all boots and clamps, all this stuff. No loud whistling occurred until a 7000lb trailer was being pulled, downshifted automatically, rpm up high one loud pop & whistling began. Whistles ever since to some degree, no changes in any performance or mpg just whistles. Wife says it sounds like a dodge/cummins on steroids. What else could it be?

What about on the exhaust side? Any gauges to monitor boost? Air filter ok? You mentioned waste gate, maybe take a close look at that. I don't have any experience with them though.
