accelorator pedal fell off

About a month ago I was driving and went to hit the gas and it felt different. Looked down and noticed the pedal had fallen off. I pulled over and slipped the pin/spring/pedal (that's all the parts I found on the floor mat) back together on the shaft but it's never stayed on right since. I've looked around the local wreckers and online but haven't seem much info on this issue or how it goes back together. One place I haven't been is to a dealer. I've heard I may require an entirely new assembly as the pedal may have been moulded to the shaft but it doesn't look broken...any help is appreciated!

ok well you don't want to pony up for those $$$

I have not messed with them and it's to dark to go see mine

I would imagine it would have a retaining clip ? was there a grove or anything on the pin ?

yikes no doubt. I can get one for about half the cost the dealer is charging for the whole assembly but ...I'll try and post a picture here now.

the pin is smooth at the end, but has grooves (not sure how to describe them otherwise) along the length of the pin and they're around the circumference of the pin.

bummer it does look like the center should be a method of retention

I would come up with an alternate plan if u can access both sides I would use a longer pin with external retainers

I don't see a pic in your post ?

It 's almost like a puzzle to put together and I'm missing one piece! I'm going to check the dealer and see what they have to offer. I've had some help from my dad too but it's like we're missing the one way to do it or it is actually broken...
