Engine hour

Quick question guys.... I was looking at a 2007 f250 xlt today with only 70k miles on it. The truck looked very clean and showed correct wear for low miles. However when I pushed the trip/odometer button to scroll to hours it read only 3.8 hours. That number correctly increased through the test drive to read 4.1 hours after I brought it back. Could this have been reset? I know they replaced one of the trucks batteries because I saw a receipt for it but can't imagine that resetting it. Did it roll over? Car fax show both owners as private use. Could this have 10,004 hrs on it or is there a way to reset that dash reading and I don't know about it. Shy of taking it to a ford service dealership and having them scan the hours, how do I verify?
Thanks

Ya that's strange. You might call the dealership and ask them about?

From my experience with hour meters in passenger vehicles is that they are just a driver tool. usually the button to scroll to the hour meter can also be held in to reset it. it's just another trip meter. Now i do not own a 2007 f series so don't take my word for it.

(i just looked it up)

yeah, i saw that when i was looking up info on it. only problem is that this truck was an xlt with only the 'mini-message' center. so there was no 'reset' button to push. i tried to reset by pushing and holding the trip/scroll button but that didnt seem to work.

does anyone know if the hour meter on a 'mini-message' center equiped truck can be reset? or does anyone know if it actually rolls over when it reaches 9999.9 hours?
