What year?

My son is interested in getting himself an older model Superduty but not the older body style. I have only had mine since last July and certainly am not an expert.

Where can he find information about what years had what engine, turbo, problems to be aware of, hp, etc.? I see terms like "early 99", "late 99", etc. but don't know what chaged when and if it was for the good or bad?

Can anyone point us in the right direction?

1995 was the first year truck w/Turbo, all had 7.3 engines until late 2003, then 6.0 came out, that motor is in some late build '03 trucks. i think 1999 was the newer body style, could be wrong on that one....(funny thing is i learned all of that of this site)...

Thanks Stroker. That helps some. Can anybody explain "early vs. late 99" and what's the main difference?

From what I have read, the early 99 is more limited than the late 99-2003 turbo wise. I think there are only 2 options....an D66 and mod. h2e(I think I don't know much) I know up to 10/00 build date the 7.3's had forges rods (stronger) than the later PMR's. I think there is something about PCM's too....but I think it matters more when you start putting more $ into injectors/turbo and stuff. I knoow I saw a list someone made on here, I'll look for it, you could search early 99 vs late build or something.... hope that helps.
