Help me with my next PSD purchase!! 7.3 vs 6.0?

I have had 2 2005 6.0PSD in the past and had no issues luckily but have read horror stories of those who had. We have been back in a half ton for some time but looking to buy a 5th wheel and another PSD to pull with. This truck will also be my daily driver (50K miles a year average) so I want to explore all options before pulling the trigger... Buying a cash car gas sipping beater to daily drive in is out of the question in the area I service for work.

I have been looking at 01-03 F250 Lariat Crew 4x4 with under 150K miles in my price range under 20K. Those who have owned 7.3's, have there been any issues with these? Whats the fuel mileage compared to the 6.0? Should I go for another 6.0 since I have had good luck in the past? The 7.3's sure are holding their values well!!

What should I look out for when inspecting? Any other tips appreciated!

I'll be following this closely, I had an early 99 F350 and I miss the hell out of that truck. I moved to an '03 Ram 2500 with an HO Cummins and a 6spd, but I miss my Ford. The Dodge itself is a complete POS compared to the Ford, but I love the Cummins.

people have there opinions, without putting some money into a 6.0 it will never be as reliable as a 7.3, nor can it neglect maintenance like the 7.3

7.3 is cheaper, but you're gonna wind up doing more truck maintenance than motor maintenance, just due to age and how you'll use it.

2000 F-350 Lariat Super Duty, Dually, CCLB, 7.3L
4R100, 2wd
330,000 + miles
