Question topping off the fuel tank

i can get about three more gallons of diesel into my truck after the nozzle kicks out--is it OK to do this?

Yep not a problem. The vent tube and fill tube extends down into the tank its supposed to keep fuel from venting in a rollover I guess. What happens is the diesel fuel foams so the last 3-4 gallons is a slow process.

If you do the tank mods then it will fill right up to the top and will not splash back. Before I did the mods mine would always splash out all over the truck when the nozzle cut off, now I can get about 6 more gallons in with no splash back. Here is a link to lots of pics of my $30 fuel system. Shutterfly | View Shared Pictures

Here is the tubes inside the tank before cutting off.

Yea but on a gasoline car you cannot do this. Im sure most of ya know that already, because it will overflow into the charcoal canister and it will become saturated making it junk. But on a diesel its ok.
