7.8 ltr Ford diesel engine power specs???

A friend of mine has a 7.8 ford straight six out of an F700 at his yard, I looked at the tag on it and it said 270hp, I was just wondering what kind of torque that engine put out? Everybody I know that had anything to do with that engine said it was excellent. Just curious about the torque, thinking about buying it from him for a bobtail I have. Any opinions on this engine would be very welcome!

I googled it and found out that the Ford 6.6/7.8 were made in Brazil and parts are very hard to find. I'd check into parts availability and not just reliability. Seems they were very good work horses though. Good luck.

I have one in an L-8000 Rated @210 dont have a clue what the torque rating is, but it has done an exallant job for the roughly 60k I have put on it. As a matter of fact routine maintance is all that has been done.
Also, before I bought the truck I asked a friend who owns a good size parts house about
parts availabilty and he said couple items have to be shipped from brazil (two weeks) most parts are a 24 hour turn around.
