so i go to local performance shop today to get a price on guages. After talking to the guy he ask's what i'm gonna be doing with the truck and why i need a guage kit. I begin to tell him that I'm going to get a SCT custom tune on it and want to monitor my EGT's and etc. so i dont screw anything up. He then asks why i'm going with a SCT, I tell him pretty much that EDGE,Banks and superchips have been known to screw with transmissions.Haha the funny part is that he says that he would never SCT tune anything and that once i get a SCT i'm stuck with it. Also went on to say that most guys that put these on there truck never put synthetics in there vehicle nor a bigger trans. pan to help save the transmission nor switch there tuner while towing. At this point I want to laugh but figure hell let me mess with him some more. I ask him well what happens when I decide to put a bigger turbo and injectors on the truck can I still use the superchip. He tells me no cause the program will have to be completly re-done and that if I'm looking to chip it and am worried about the trans. they could install a banks shift kit. He then gives me a price of $600 to order and install autometer Z sries guages.

yeah... some diesel shops make me wonder WTF?!?!? the guy we have here in town is verry smart! he has a 740hp comonrail cummins dualie. and used to own a powerstroke.

he told me that before I ever got a tuner he suggested getting bigger injectors... Then id probly be happy with the power and if I wanted more power then get the tuner... (this is before I was a member on the org.) when we talked about tuners he talked me into the edge evo...

for one bigger injectors with out proper tuning wont pump any more fuel than stock. so i wouldnt have seen any power gains!

Two the edge performs horibly with bigger injectors. I dunno. some times I wonder if those guys really know any thing about diesel perofrmance or if they just want your money.

let just say I dont think I walked out of there but grew wings and flew. He was telling me how I might want to upgrade to a larger pan and such if he had to tap into it for the trans. temp guage and wanted to kno where I wanted the EGT plugged into. also Wanted to know if I wanted it placed before the turbo of after and I just looked at him like WTF. The sad part is that this guys owns a 6.0 also.

A local shop here in my town would not even give me a price for a exhaust that included a cat delete pipe. I could maybe see their point if they didn't want to get involved with installing it but they wanted no part in even ordering me one. It is just a "test" pipe anyways strictly for off-road use
