Remote start and or alarm

Hey everyone, this is my first post and first Diesel ford that I will pick up this week. I am looking to have a remote car starter installed in my truck and I am not sure if it can be done? I am also looking to have an aftermarket alarm installed. Can this be done on a diesel? How about cold starts in the winter?

to the ORG!! Yep they can both be done. There are quite a few members on here running around here with remote start that live in cold weather. I am sure they will chime in shortly.

Some remote starts tie into the wait to start light so when it goes off, the truck starts. Others just use a timer. Mine uses the WTS light and it works awesome

cold as Heck here! I live in an apt so thats why I bought it (no heater cord) Installed myself, so I just set it with a 15 second delay, always plenty of time for the glow plugs. No problems yet.

i have a viper remote start, with 2 way paging alarm all in one, awsome unit, remote start from 1 mile away. I got it from a friend that works at custom sounds here in austin tx, works with the wts light. also pages you if some one is messing with your truck lookup viper 5900 SST. that is what i run, good luck

Getting ready to have a Clifford alarm installed in Jolene. Will also have remote start. Cliffords can be tied into the Wait to Start light or a timer for starting. Your choice.

This particular model has two way communication with the remote so I know what's going on at all times. Not taking any more chances since she was molested last week.

Gotta love DEI!!! The Clifford 50.5x is the same as your Viper 5900 SST.

I have had Cliffords in other vehicles and heave been very satisfied.

i love dei, just picked up a python remote start only module for 20$ and put it on my expedition. cool piece, kinda a pain to install though

The last truck I had took 2 days to have the alarm installed. And that was a pro install too. Didn't help that it had every bell and whistle possible. Window Up/Down module, remote start, headlight control, you name it. The fella installing it told me it was the worst vehicle he ever worked on. It was a '98 Ram 1500. Go figure.

Welcome and congrats on the truck, you'll love it. I got a Viper alarm system on mine and it has autostart too with timing. It waits for the WTS light to come on and then cranks it. You can adjust the timing yourself depending on the weather but I'm not sure how as BestBuy set mine up for me.
