Will it help?
There will be no question I am not mechanically inclined after I ask this but I wanted to get that out of the way. My 7.3 is difficult to crank and sometimes impossible to crank when it is freezing or below. I have searched the files and know this is common. It cranks like a champ when I have it plugged up and the GPR checks out fine. Here is my dilemma, sometimes when I am camping in the mountains it is not possible to plug it up and I am stuck there until the temp gets high enough for the thing to crank. My question is, would using a 12/24 volt jump box create enough extra power to solve this problem? I don't want to spend the money on one when I don't need it normally.

Sounds like your batteries could be weak? Might want to have them load tested

+2 for the batteries. I live in Montana and spent last winter in Minnesota so it's about as cold as it's gonna get (-30 to -40) and i forgot to plug mine in a few times, but never once did i have ANY trouble starting it. It might crank a little slow at first, but as soon as it started crankin it would start every time.

Thanks guys. I'll have the batteries load tested. This is the third set of batteries that have been in the truck and this has been a problem since the first set went down. All of the batteries meet Ford's specs. If there are any other ideas, please throw them out there. I'm really aggravated that I have work my plans around a receptacle and extension cord.

Get some bigger batteries then come in it I always go with 1100cca and they seem to last a bit longer cause in the cold they arent working as hard..
