Should I be concerned???

This part of a quote from raveer concerning his wife's truck:

I asked about the hard starting we have been having and the white smoke on start up until it warms up.. He said it was also caused by the HPOP starting to go out the there wasn't quite enough umph to run the injectors when the oil was cold.

I know we have different trucks but is this a sign my HPOP is going south on me?
If so do I go with a new hpop or can I get a used one? Is there a rebuild kit? Do I upgrade since I want to do more HP wise? What am I looking at price wise. I know I have read where these things are pricey.

Thanks,
Craig

I know I know, but you start thinkin' "Oh no.....big ticket item going out.....YIKES." Thanks for redirecting the potentially unnecessary anxiety.

On your truck, I think you have a 15* pump -- you could buy a used 99-03 17* pump and that would be an upgrade for ya and wouldnt' be NEAR as expensive as doing a Stealth or buying one new..

i've seen them for sale on boards for around $300-$500 instead of $1500 for the Stealth stuff
