I don't think you will ever see it happen. Deere backed down from on-road engines 25 years go when emissions requirements for diesels were nothing more than a joke. I don't see them stepping into all those EPA headaches.

It would be cool to see some variation of the 7.6 or 8.1 engine in a Superduty! They are torque monsters and could give the Cummins a run for their money. Heck BullyDog already tunes Deere engines so we know that wouldn't be a problem.

Heck my 48 hp 4700 4x4 John Deere tractor has a Jap Yanmar engine in it. If they won’t make them for themselves then I don’t see them making engines for Ford. Would be cool though unless they slipped another Jap in there and called it Deere.

I am sure not a Japenese built anything supporter, but we have had two Yanmars in John Deere tractors and they are super tough with excellent fuel economy. A whole lot of ranchers use the Yanmar generators to run thier submersable pumps, I know one old guy put an over head fuel tank(probably at least 500 gal.) by the well and hooked it straight to the Yanmar, started it and left. The oil never got changed once and it ran for months, at least that is the story, motor was probably toast after that stunt! I saw something somewhere about John Deere building engines for trucks too, it would be interesting! I still want to see a CAT in a Ford myself, the name would sell them just like Cummins sells Dodge trucks.
