Bargaining for a used truck??
I have a few questions that naybe you guys can answer??
1. When looking at buying a used truck for cash at a used car dealer or a new car dealership thats selling used trucks, what percentage off the asking price can you negotiate without getting laughed at, LOL. 2. What about private sellers?? Thanks. |

I would say there is no rule of thumb, but you can reasonably expect to pay somewhere between $2,000 to $4,000 less than the list price. A lot depends on what price range your looking at. I would also say that the general private seller won't move as much. But you never know. Do your homework on the pricing.....you need to know what the books say, but you should also know what you can buy one for in your area. Always, always, always shoot low (below where you want to end up) then you can meet in the middle, hopefully where you want to be.

The best thing to do is know what the truck is worth and know what you want to pay. It also helps to know how long the truck has been on the lot. You also need to know prices to repair whatever is wrong with the truck. IMO percentage wise probably 10-15%.

Do some resurech, check KBB, compare prices from diffrent dealers and get a truck trader to see what people are asking for in your area.
