It's nice to drive a diesel during hurricanes...
Well, today has been absolutely nuts in Miami. People running around like lemmings, rats, whatever...30 car long lines at gas stations. Hell I even saw a TransAm with plywood strapped to the roof. Crazy Miamians. All cause of this beepbeepbeepbeep POS called Ernesto. So I figure I'll wait til later to fill er up...not cause of the storm, but because I'm almost on empty after driving all last week. Figure around 10pm the lines should be clear. NOT! But I tell ya, I didn't have to wait as long as all those gassers. Diesels not as popular, so I lucked out and only had to wait for 2 vehicles ahead of me. Meanwhile the gas people had to deal with 5,10,20 cars, who knows how many in line at the various stations in the area. DIESEL power is where its at. And if the place gets tore up (knock on wood hope it doesn't) I can be confident in knowing that standing water, sidewalks, and downed trees won't be getting in my way. Hehe. God bless diesel trucks.

i second that, i do enjoy a good storm. something about being out and about driving around makes my day. let alone i feel safer riding around in it than sitting around in it.

I like a good storm but would rather have the truck in the garage and be outside playing smear the queer or something in the rain and muddy fields.

I don't know if y'all remember some of my posts from last year when Houston was evacuated but having a diesel was the only way to go. They were literally out of gas EVERYWHERE but I capped my rig off every day and when I'd pull up to a diesel pump the gassers would flock around me trying to see if I'd found a pump that had actual gas - nope.

Yeah, Ernesto pretty much fizzled out. Dry storm. They were forecasting 15 inches of rain...I think we got maybe 1 inch or so. It sure was fun driving round in it though. It was raining so hard at times that you could only do 20-30 mph in the dark. This probably means that we'll get something bad in the next few months...that's usually how it goes...this was just a preview. But let's hope not.
