Truck got me down

I'm am so pissed at the tranny. It slips, surges, mis-shifts, flairs, can't pull a trailer more than 1 mile without tow/haul flashing. There's no programmer on it and I know its back to stock. Ford is swamped with vehicles and if I take my truck in it will sit for 3 weeks just to have the computer reset to try and fix the problem. I paid cash for the truck (another story) so if I sell it I'll loose out and won't be able to afford another PSD for awhile. I've got the truck the way I like it. I just want the tranny fixed. It's the 5th tranny. I'm not hell on wheels or drag race every time it's out. I drive it 100 miles a day on the freeway going 70mph. It's got me depressed and I can't figure out why if the truck just get new tranny's and coolers maybe the problem is something else but Ford is just replacing the tranny's and coolers and not looking at anything else. Also to the truck is red flagged so my warranty might be void.

Man, that sucks..5 Tranny's.. sounds like something has to be wrong there,, These 5R110s are usually fairly stout.. have you considered going with a built tranny, like an ATS built or something similar?

Well I dumped some money on a dirtbike so there goes the tranny build. I would probably go to John Wood since I'm about 5 hours away but I'm not going to get the tranny built if I still have a warranty. Plus what if the problem is an eletrical issue. Why spend $5K on a tranny to find out it could be an electrical problem. I'm not taking that risk untill I roll over 100K. I got the extended warranty for this reason.

You know i would tend to agree with you, i put one in my 03 6.0 cause the alt went out and i tried to get to work w/low voltage, replaced alt and tranny was toast, tried to engage a few different gears or somethin when voltage go too low, theres no reason for 5 trannnies, i beat the crap out of mine with a chip after that and no tranny hiccups

Thanks for saying something. I have other threads going around and all that I wanted was ideas or thoughts on why my tranny is having issues but almost everyone was bashing my programmer. I'll mention something about the electrical next time I'm at Ford to get some ice cream.

Yeah thats a good point, Why should you foot the bill when its under warranty, but if the dealer just keeps throwin trannys at it, thats not cool either. plus you also stated that the truck was flagged, Thats the only reason I brought up the built trans. Has the trans always been replaced by the same dealership? if so maybe look into a different one? IDK just a suggestion.

I feel your pain. I think you should look into the computer or something that works with the tranny. If your on your 5th tranny i'm going to tell ya right now, its not the tranny. especilly if you really do drive like you say you do.

Man 5 trannys...thats sucks i just bought a 97 powerstroke hope i never have no problems like that

I keep taking it to the same place. I like going there because it's not a dealer it's Fords fleet center. It's close to my house and I have a good relationship with everyone there. They have 2 tranny techs and they got a new one a few weeks ago so my truck will be going to him. The ironic thing is that when I'm talking to the techs they are always saying the 4R100's are weak and are jokes and they can't stop bragging about the 5R110's but within my family we have had 5 Powerstroke's with the 4R100 and we've never had any problems with them at all not even a glitch. Two of the trucks with 100K+ miles are programmed two are stock with 100K+ miles and the other one with 45K miles hauls 10K pounds everytime its out. My truck 50K miles and on the 5th 5R110.

Yeah I see what you're saying, I know when you have a good repoir with a certain shop its tough,you want to stay a loyal cust. I hope you get it figured out bro.
