You don't have to worry about it yet. Read this part: "This bill would, starting January 1, 2010, include diesel-powered vehicles manufactured after the 1997 model-year that have a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 8,501 pounds in the biennial smog check program, as provided."

An F-250 has a GVWR of 10000 pounds, so effectively, the check will just apply to diesel cars and little trucks.

It's not the weight of your truck, it's the gross weight rating. I've never seen a 250 that was rated at less than 8500 pounds, so I think everybody in here is exempt from the new law.

Diesels have been on the test list here in TN for a while now. They just raised the GVR limit a couple of years ago because there are so many diesel trucks around here. They raised it to 10,500 lbs., so I have to run my dually every year (10,000 lb GVR) Now all vehicles from 1975 to present under 10,500 lbs in metro areas and surrounding counties has to go thru emissions testing every year. That is ridiculous for a state like TN.

Nebraska is here for you with open arms if you would like to come. We have snow, no beach, and weird weather, but no silly sally diesel rules.
