Quick block heater questions

I just installed the block heater cord on my truck. Is it normal to be able to hear the heater running when its plugged in? I could hear it when i was under the truck. Also, whats the longest I should leave it plugged in? Lastly, How long does it usually take to heat it up as much as its going to?

Yep, it should sound kinda like a house eclectic water heater when it’s running, kinda pops and fizzles a little. You can leave it plugged in as long as you can afford the electric bill. It pulls about as much juice as 15-20 light bulbs. I leave mine plugged up at work al the time but very rarely plug it up at home. Make sure you always use a GFCI protected outlet and 12 gauge grounded cord, warm trucks aren’t worth dieing over.

Gotcha, thank man. I think im gonna get a heavy duty timer if it draws that much power lol. I was hoping 12gauge would be enough. Thanks again.
