Is a 158" wheelbase bad idea for off road?

Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting a 2003 ambulance that I'd convert to 4x4 on 6" lift to go camping and all. I also like to get off the beaten path...

Usually the one that come for sale around here are the 138" wheelbase but with a 158" wheelbase just came up. Overall length is only 10-12" longer and the tail (rear overhang) is about 7" shorter which I like but I'm a bit concerned with it's drivability... I've never driven any of these before and not sure how much of a difference it'd be between the two for turning radius or getting high centered... I won't have time to go test drive a 138" or 158" to compare so I thought I'd ask here?

Thanks for helping someone looking to join the Ford team!

Cheers,
Mr. D
