Ford and Cummins?
Ok, i need to verify some rumor i heard. It maybe total :bs:
This guy i know told me he was told by a reasonable source that Ford has teamed up with Cummins - more so than they already were i guess and maybe bought more rights in there company and are going to start putting Cummins motors in all the F-250 and up rather than just in the 450s and 550s. I have a hard time believing this BUT it would actually be pretty cool cause those cummins are great motors. The international made PSD would still be available but it would be a special order. According to him. I can't find anything to back this up on the internet....news sorces etc. so i thought maybe someone here might have some insight as to whether this is true or just an ugly rumor.

Isn't the contract between Dodge and Cummins up soon though? Maybe that's where the rumors are starting?

this rumor has been floating around for years. At one point in time, Ford did own some shares in Cummins, but in was never a majority interest and they never had full controlling stock.......
CHenrey, the Cummins is only availabale in the 650/750 chassis from ford, which is considered a medium duty truck, not a light duty truck...... Tiff, ive been hearing for ten years now that cummins contract with dodge was just about up.........i think its all just rumors.. |

i think the contract is till 2010. not 100% positive on it. or maybe i'm thinkin the coantract with I.H. and ford.... either way i think its a truck load of :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: . it smells funny in here. sniff sniff

Cummins is going into GM's trucks in 2016, Cat will be in Dodge's in 2024, and Perkins in Ford by 2029.......oh crap, I just started entirely new rumors.....

Anyone else know of anything related to this?
Think about that, a Ford truck with a cummins motor and if you could get Chevys Allison trany, what a perfect truck!

The interesting thing with all of these diesel companies is that the PSD might be made by International but International is actually part of a larger scenario which includes Mann of Germany and guess what, there are links there to Caterpillar... Who can keep track of all of this crap ???

Oh dear lord! Will these rumors ever die?!?!?!?!?!? I've heard SO many variations of this it's not even funny anymore.
Dodge's contract with Cummins runs thru 09-10 last I heard. Ford did own about 15% stock in Cummins but was bought back by Cummins in or around 1995. You can get a Ford/Cummins combo here already. What I do find extremely funny about all this is how many rumors do you hear of Dodge getting the PSD or Duramax. It's ALWAYS Ford getting Cummins or Chevy getting CAT and Dodge going to a European diesel (which this one on the European diesel has the most plausibility to me anyway). |
