6.0 / 6.4 ?
Alright, I have heard from many, many people on what they think of the 6.0 and 6.4. I would like to hear from people that own or work on them. What kind of mechanical reliability can you actually expect from them? I might be tempted to purchase one of the reviews are not too bad.

Great motors. There earlier ones(6.0L) where somewhat hit and miss. You just hear about all the bad ones. If I remember right the 6.4's are just a stroked verison of the 6.0 for the new emissions.

6.0 is a good engine. I've had two and no problems with either. Better mileage than the 6.4, too.

I have an 08 F250 XLT Lariet 4x4 Torgshift Crewcab shortbed 6.4PSD. I've got 12000 mi. on it. So far it has done everything I've asked of it. Fuel economy 12/18.

I own an 07' with less than 30K miles, no problems thus far. We have 12, yes twelve, 04's at work, all 6.0, e-350's, f-350's DRW, and f-550's. We have had minimal problems with those trucks. They are all well maintained, but driven hard. I'm not sure about mileage on all those, but a few are around 80,000.

My 07 has about 55,000 miles on it and hasnt given me any problems and my brother has an 03 with 220,000 miles on it and he has put the injectors and a tranny, other than that it hasnt given him any trouble.

Sounds like the good old PSD holds up better than the guys around town claim they do. It might be a possibility.

I'm starting to think that the key to these is that if you have problems and have to take it to the dealer, you have to find one where a. they have enough diesel techs to do all of the work and b. the diesel techs they have know their chit.

i know my 05 6.0 has been great
i have only heard about the 6.4 (from a good mechanic) i was told to stay away the emissions ruined them and they are a bear to work on. also too crowded to add stuff like PTO or other goodies. |
