I just picked up a 99 F350 crew cab dually 4x4 with a 6 speed. I love the 4 doors but its a slug compared to my 01 dodge that i traded in on it. (I had some goodies under the hood) What are the best bang for your buck mods for my new truck. And what are the limits the engine/tranny/clutch can handle, ie boost, hp into the 6 speed/clutch. Miles are low 77k Its already got a k&n kit and I scrapped the suitcase(muffler) and smashed out the cat(got rid of that awful stink). Any help is much appreciated.

first things first would be a set of gauges, primaraly EGT, and boost would be the other good one. you dont need a trans temp since you have a manual. I would also reccomend getting a 4" turbo back exhaust.....After that would be the chip......you could go basic with something like a superchips or hypertech plug and play programmer, to something a little hotter such as the TS or quadzilla, or go for the biggest and best with a custom tune from a guy like Tony Wildman or Jody Tipton, or any other custom tuner.
There are always bigger and better options even after this, such as turbo's, injectors, etc. IF you plan on doing these things, remember that you may need some tweeking with the chip to make the power all the way available. Any of the custom tuners will match tunes to your mods if you go with hard parts mods such as these... |

Oh, and welcome to the forum!!!!!
something i did forget to touch on above was the clutch. Your stock clutch should be sufficient for pretty much any chip, but if you start putting injectors and or turbos in, you may want to look at upgrading. You would probably be fine i would think with stock clutch and stage 2 injectors, but if anyone thinks no, please pipe in. I garantee you hit stage 3's and a turbo to compliment them and you will have problems with the stock clutch |

Thanks for the info Marc.
How about the lift/transfer pump, I had to big time upgrade the one in my cummins to make sure I didnt trash the injector pump? How much boost can I safely run ? I had a Dr Performance Predator chip in my 01 cummins, stage 3 125 hp. I was happy with the performance and the egt's were fairly safe. Are thier ford chips any good? no need for the lift pump upgrade as this is a totally sepearate type fuel system......
You can safely run as muchboost as you can get out of her with the stock turbo IMO I think there are better options than predator out there, they seem to not have as good a track record on the fords.... |

Methanol is an upgrade that I'm seriously looking into right now. You should look into it. Lower egt's, higher boost, and hogher horsepower! Dosn't cost too much either.
