08 w/7.3 need opinions
If you were gonna trade in your old truck for a brand new one, would you ever consider buying an 08 S.D. with a 7.3 if they made em? I ask this cause in the trucking world you can order what they call a glider kit. Which is a cab and chassis, sometimes they come as a rolling chassis with axles and sometimes non at all. Then you put in your own reman or take out engine/trans combo. Saves a ton of money over new and the BEST part no emission motors. There are a ton of 08 semi tractor glider kits for sale now that are running pre 03 emission engines. So you get the comforts of a new style truck with the older style engines. Just a thought but if someone started a company assembling ford trucks in this fasion would you guys be interested?

That would be awesome if you could get past the Fed.

yeah it wouldn't be anything factory, but a custom shop could do it. The semi tractors don't run emission motors in their gliders so i wouldn't see why the feds would say anything if the truck is ordered as a rolling chassis with NO DPF. Maybe they have some special rules that allow them to get away with it, but in the same thought its the rigs that the EPA is after cause of idle time and particle emissions. So i would think a custom shop could install 7.3's in 08 bodies.
