Tow Boss Questions

i am planning on buying a F350 DRW Tow Boss next summer, i have started looking and have only found a couple. I am wondering if there are some out there that just arent advertised as tow bosses. So my question is, are they that rare? also is there any sure fire ways to tell that they are a tow boss? i know they came with the 4.30LS rear, and the tow command system. also i heard that they came with a 2.5" reciever hitch, but i have seen a couple trucks that looked like they had one but were listed with 4.10 gears. i was hoping for a way to tell without calling on a hundred trucks and having them check the axle code on the door.
Thanks

I think the major thing on a tow boss is the 4.30 gears. As far as the tow command, that is an option on any truck (My 08 250 has it and my Dad's 11 F250 has it also) Also, as far as the 2.5 receiver, I think that may be a tow boss thing, but it is also an option on other Super Dutys My dad's F250 has the Class V 2.5" receiver under the truck factory where my 08 has a 2"

Re: Tow Boss Questions

Didn't they also have the wide track front end similar to the F450/550s?

Hardware wise was 4.30 gears. Paperwork wise was a higher tow rating for those that only tow below the rated spec.

And there's lots of em out there. Just have to look for if they list the 4.30 gears. Many do not.

The easiest way to tell a tow boss is by looking at the carpet. Oddly enough 99% of these truck have 3 wear marks on the floorboard........
Actully I have one a didnt even know it until a couple weeks ago. If I would of sold it I would not have known to say it was a tow boss....the dealer I bought it from never said anything.

From what I understand, the F450's are a rougher ride, they have commercial tires, and they are harder/more expensive to insure.... None of which I want to get into.

Thanks for that, this is the kind of stuff I was talking about! I'm sure there are some for sale and people don't know what they even have.
