Engine cleaner, is this okay??

My 7.3L looks brand new underneath some dirt and dust, is it okay to soak ALL in engine brite degreaser and hose it down? Is there anything in danger of getting wet, should I cover anything? I fear taking it to a do-it-yourself spray-wash and having it not start after blasting the entire engine area with hot water. What's your opinion?

Be careful around any electronics/alternator. I use a garden hose pre-wet compartment spray with straight Simple Green let soak for 15-20 minutes and rinse. This is with a warm not Hot motor.

I leave it run when doing it.

Wet engine, spray solvents/cleaner and brush, then rinse off.

This is how we did it at a detail shop I worked at. Only thing I would worry about is the air filter if it is exposed. Other than that, it is a diesel so no dist cap, rotor, plug wires to get wet and not fire right.
