Looking for diesel CAR for wife...suggestions?

I was just in the UK on business. EVERYTHING is diesel over there.

I had a car (GM owned Vauxhall station wagon) and put well over 400 miles on it (speeds sometimes in excess of 100mph) and never filled the tank, except to turn it back in to Enterprise.
My bosses had a Russian (?) Skoda, same economy and performance.

I was so impressed, I WANT A DIESEL CAR!

Anybody know of any US compnies that sell deiesels. I know VW does, who else?

Thanks for the help!

Try VW. Can't beat 43mpg. Especially since you can get a stick in the Passat.

A couple months ago me and my dad test drove a Passat TDI. Very impressed.

Audi A3 comes in diesel too if you're looking for a bit more luxury. Also the VW Toureg for the suv option.

You can buy my white one

VW TDI's are hard to beat. The Audi's are TDI's as well, just in a nicer platform. VW Toureg could be had in diesel (V10 twin turbo!) but they are expensive. BMW has a couple new diesel cars out, and mercedes has their bluetec diesels.

Wish they sold a greater variety here, thank you EPA!

Wanna trade for a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser? But seriously, I live in Northwest FL...haha

Thanks for all the replies. Spent a WHILE looking online. Amazed there aren't more US diesel choices. Never really paid much attention to diesel CARS....

So, guessing the reason we don't have more diesels is because of high emission restrictions initiated by the EPA?

I wonder if the speculators pocketing $3.00 a gallon has anything to do with that?

Just saw an ad for the Porsche Cayenne diesel. Doesn't VW own Porsche? If so, the Toureg is expensive enough - the Porsche is probably more so.
