Batteries

Ok, another stupid thread...but I want to know. Two batteries in my truck.... Does that make the starter 24 volt, or are they parallel just for more CCA? Does the accessories run off a certain battery, or do they draw off both? If I d/c one battery or the other, will all the radio settings stay where they are? If you have to replace one, should you go ahead and catch both of them?

Sometimes I'm as confused as a baby in a topless bar....

Thanks in advance....

No the starter is not a 24 volt and you have to unhook both batteries to shut down everything. It will still start even with only one battery (found that out when I had to take one of mine out and put it in another rig.) It is always a good idea to replace both at one time. If you don't the older battery will shorten the life span of the new one. Hope this helps. It is nothing scientific, just what I have learned on my own. Mabey one of the techs will chime in and give a clearer answer.
