7.3 knocking at idle ?
Just purchased a 2000 F-350 about two months ago, just started noticing a knock at idle, is this normal ? Sounds like a gas engine with a rod knock, sounds ok when above idle. Only have 82,000 miles on it, and dont believe its been run hard. Thought maybe it was a fuel issue and started adding fuel suppliment doesn't seen to help

Might be cackle - Shane aka SEA71 has a sound clip around here somewhere that you might be able to compare it to.

I have a few vids if you can make it out.
Run a search for Cackle as Marty said. |

Check for blow by. We had a '99 that I thought had cackle case, but it had lost #5 cylinder. If I had only removed the oil cap....
Hope it's cackle. |

Thanks for the info, I researched "CACKLE" and found a sound bit, I think they were at my house recording it! I'm going to pick up a new fuel filter tonight and see if it helps any, haven't changed that yet. Thanks for the help, been driving pickups for 30 years but this is my first diesel, wish I wouldn't have waited so long, I'll never go back to gas!
