Ford owns Cummins?

Does Ford own Cummins? Someone mentioned that talking about dodge diesels. He said that Ford doesn't choose to not use Cummins, but Dodge has exclusive rights to it still or something.

Ford did own a decent percentage stock in cummins for a while. They never had a majority ownership, and did not buy it for anything but a business venture. They bought it and sold it simply to turn a profit. They sold that stock a long time ago...its probably been 10 years since ford had that stock. There were never any plans to put a cummins in a factory ford or anything like that, that was only rumors during the mid to late 90's that have survived for some reason...

No no no no, see ford owned a small percentage of Cummins shares like 10% in the 1990s, then later sold the shares off. And since that happened alot of people think ford owns them.

Ford and Chrysler both bought 10% shares, each. It was an effort to get Cummins out of the red. Part of the agreement was they had to sell the shares back after 10 years, and they did. So, ever since, a lot of myths have flown aroud about it.

I heard somewhere that if GM puts allison up for sale, that ford may buy it. Anybody else heard that?
