Time to rebuild the trans...stock rebuild or any upgrades? So Cal peeps any shops?

Trans started slipping the other day on my 2001 250 CC 4x4 and has gotten worse. Truck has 112K. Took it to a shop my parents recommended and the guy dropped the pan. He said there are pieces of something in the pan, so it looks as if the tranny is going to have to be gone through. He says he thinks the culprit was a seal between the trans and the transfer case. I don't really want to have this shop do the work since it is a differerent owner from the work my parents had done.

Any worthwhile upgrades while the trans is out like different clutches, etc? I mainly just use it for dirbikes, occasional towing. Can't really drop 5K on an aftermarket trans. Would just like to have it rebuilt, maybe beefed up a little and hopefully go at least another 100K.

Also, anyone in Southern California have any shops to recommend?

99-03's with the 7.3 have the 4R100 in them Looie

If you are going to rebuild it - I would look at heavier duty clutch packs, triple disc torque converter, a valve body, and a larger trans cooler

or just buy a built one from BTS or Suncoast

its a shop I found in the hunt for my tranny. I was going to go with DPP.com but I dont have the time to put the kits in myself, or the money to buy one of there whole trannys. So I found these guys as a middle ground. I looked them up and the are pretty established company, and good to work with. They have a stock tranny for like 1200 and a built one for 2400, let me know if you decide to use them.
