Student in need of info!!
Hey guys! I am new to this forum but I have been doing alot of research through this site and etc. ( on the powerstroke). This is my situation. I have a 2004 chevy 2500hd is the gas motor 2wd. Yes, i know its not a diesel nor 4x4 = no fun. I am in the market now for another truck. Before i begin, let me say that I am going off to med school this year, and I'm dieing for a diesel. I cant get away from wanting a powerstroke. I'm looking at 2005 -2006 area. I have around 20k budget. LIving in Oklahoma, my search results for this price and year of truck are generally leading to the vehicle to have around 100k miles. I need a reliable truck, I am not towing anything, and I know some will say I have no need for a turbo diesel, the point is i want one. Am I going in the right direction mileage wise with a truck having 100k miles on the powerstroke motor? My upgrades of choice would be an exhaust and chip, but thats about it. I do sometimes run across a lower mileage f250 diesel, and I will jump at the righit deal, But i mainly need to know that 100k miles powerstroke isnt too much to take a 4 year loan on! Some have said that 100k miles isnt enough to break the truck in, and some have said the opposite...And advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you.

Id say, for 20 grand you should have something with 60k or less, IMO. 100K is just getting started.

It all depends on what repairs have been done to the truck while under warranty. Look for one that has had head studs done with oem gaskets, if at all possible you want a truck that had studs and egr delete or bpd egr cooler and fresh oil cooler. if you want an oasis report on whatever trucks your interested in post the vin numbers.
I will say this about 6.0s they are the easiest to work on. you should have money set aside for repairs and upgrades. as for tuning, sct livewire with custom tunes. |

Tech82787...if you could, take a look at this truck, does this have any red flags since its lifted, and possible tranny problems? Also I have no idea how the original owner drove it...
