Spare Keys

Hey guys I was just wondering where you guys get your spare keys if anyone goes a different route other than the ford dealership. I googled it the other day and some people said how they called a mobile locksmith and they would come to you and do it cheaper than the dealership. I have an 06 so I dont think my key is chipped but I have o clue honestly I just need to get another key for the remote start I plan on getting. Also prices you guys are paying. Thanks

Unless you have an X (excursion) you don't have a chipped key. As long as you have a working key, just go to walmart. A copy is 3 bucks! No need to call a locksmith for spares unless you lost the original.

Oh crap, I have an 05 Ex, so this one is chipped? I was thinking about getting a spare, if it is chipped, do I have to go to the stealer for a replacement? Same thing with the remote dongle? How much am I looking at spending for the privilege?

Programming a spare remote is easy, but the key is a tough one. Yes, it's chipped, and if you have 2 existing keys you can program your own. If you only have one spare key however, you will need to use a locksmith, or the dealer. Good luck!
