1999 vs. 1999.5 7.3 diesel
What exactly is the difference between the early 1999s and the 1999.5s? I'm lookin a buying a superduty and am curious as to if I should look specifically for a late 99 and up or if an early 99 would be just as good. I have they had problems with the tranny cooler in the early 99, and also that it doesn't have an intercooler. Thanks for the input

I own the 99 mfg in 12/98.
Mine has the intercooler. it has 200,400 miles on it and runs awesome. Best truck I've ever owned. I think it has a smaller turbo. Which I happen to think is a good thing because it reduces the power a little and improves longevity. IMHO Also I think it increases mpg for the same reasons. I also think it has smaller injectors too. I bought it with 193k on it and it had a rebuilt trans in it then. Still works fine. So I don't know when it was changed. I had the normal issues like ball joints brakes and brake line (1). Biggest thing was the timing gear cover has coolant passages and somehow it made a hole right through it by way of electrolysis or something. I have a posting on here with pics. See "how to kill your truck in 54 east steps" posting. |
