Custom Tuning Your Own Truck

Just wondering if anyone custom tunes their own vehicle. I am coming from a Duramax/EFILive background so I have some decent knowledge of tuning and was wondering if anyone in the Ford community does it themselves or just runs the off the shelf tuners out there...looks like SCT is a good option as far as I can tell.

most of us run custom tunes from a couple different companys out there on the sct x3 with the 6.0s but with a 6.4 you have kem, innovative, spartan and many more to name just do some research and figure out what best fits you

I'm running H&S at the moment and have no problems...I legitimately want to tune my own truck not buy tunes someone else built. I loved being able to change and customize everything exactly how I wanted instead of having to rely on someone else

Nobody makes an interface for that, unfortunately

SCT does have the PRP package giving you access to your vehicle, 249 for the software, not too bad, have to have a tuner also though, if you want to add vehicles it is a little lower per vehicle after initial setup, if you change vehicles they will change processor access for free to new vehicle, if it is supported

The software you get is the same that the dealers get, just access to one vehicle

I don't think the PRP is avail for the 6.4, but even then, the PRP isn't full control software

Damn...I was hoping we would have our own version of efilive or hptuners so I could tune my own truck...what do the big name tuners use to build their tunes?

I would use SCT Pro Racer Package. It is the same as Advantage. I have a dealers license for mustangs...and have compared the two programs. They are exactly the same...you just get to only use one vehicle for the PRP.

With the SCT Pro Racer Package you can tune EVERYTHING on your truck. I would not advise this unless you actually know what you are doing as minute calculations can cause your truck to not run correctly. If you are good with tuning then I would really suggest going this route.
