Power Stroke Clutch noise
I have a question for all who own a power stroke diesel, 1997 with a 5 speed manual trans.
After I tow my enclosed trailer, 3500#, about 15 to 20 miles and have to stop and then go again, there is such a loud noise when I am releasing the clutch.
The clutch is not slipping and I can shift without any problem into the next gear but the noise is there until I get up to 10 to 15 mph.
Today I was told by a parts store that the 97 Ford with the power stroke has a two (2) piece fly wheel that has caused problems. And all the new clutch kits come with a one (1) piece fly wheel.
Has anyone had such a problem and what problems will I encounter changing the clutch. I will be doing the job myself.
The cost for the clutch kit which includes the following parts, fly wheel, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing, clutch plate, disc, and bolts is $450. Sounds like a good price.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Joe Pel
