Working on a project and going to use a glow plug as a heat source (like my 7.3 uses) because their cheap and will be easy to replace. Problem is they get to hot for my application. I'm a machinists and fabricater so the mechanical side I've got down the electrical side, not so much. My question, is there a way to reduce the current flow to adjust the temp? I guess a dimmer switch would be a good example of what I'm trying to do. And no I'm not going to plug it into AC its for DC use. Thanks for any advice.

Yep that would work. Or you could use a resistor if you didn't need it to be adjustable
