Here's another one... Which diesel???

I am looking for a new truck. I currently have an 01 F150 and a 2000 F250 with the 7.3L. My F150 is a daily driver and I'm replacing it, the 7.3 is for my other half for work pulling a GN 3 horse.

My question is primarily what diesel available, the 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, or the 6.7 is the best bang for buck around. I do sometimes pull fairly large loads, but for the most part it's usually one of a couple boats, hay, and a tractor. No hotshot type stuff, no heavy work on a regular basis.

I did have a 6.0 and had some issues with it a few years back and got rid of it. Leaning away from the 6.0 for that reason alone. I am a lot more curious about the reliability of the 6.4 and potentially the 6.7. Not so keen on the looks of either, but like the "newer" options as compared to a 99-03 model.

Any suggestions or general insights would be great!

I have been really impressed with the 6.4

I haven't seen any reliability issues with the ones I have been around. Just get rid of the dpf if you want decent fuel mileage.

The power these things make with an exhaust intake and tuner is awesome

Hopefully when I get back to powerstroke I will be able to find one myself

See, I've heard both good and bad about the 6.4. Most of what I have heard is about the cylinder bolt heads and the head gaskets blowing like the 6.0... I'm not looking for some mega horsepower producing diesel, I just want something economical, solid when towing, and that i can put 200k+ miles on without much issue.

I haven't really researched the cost of mods and a tuner for any of the diesels other than the 7.3. Are the costs for the DPF and tuner similar to the 7.3?
