Would you buy......
Looking for thoughts on whether or not you would purchase a 2001 7.3L PSD F350 at 200,000 miles - with NO MAINTENANCE RECORDS before the last 10,000 miles. Within the last 10,000 miles the rear differential has been replaced because "it was making a loud popping noise". Is the truck worth the risk at $13K?

I bought a 2001 F-250 XLT extended cab 4WD about 5 months ago. I bought it from the original owner with all maintenance records and repair records for that matter too. The truck had 145k when I bought it. It's in good shape with normal wear and tear. The guy used it but took care of it. I paid 12k for it. I would keep looking personally.....or try to seriously talk them down.

I bought mine a 2000 ford f-350 ccsb xlt with 145,000 on it for 10,000 with all maintenance records and repair records, bought it in good condition and ran excellent! But that was 2 years ago. Lol I would see if they would go down on the price!

That's what I'm thinking. Leaning heavily toward.... no. My buddy (diesel mechanic) told me not to touch it with a 10ft. pole. I wouldn't squirm at a '99-'03 7.3L PSD even at 200,000 miles if I had no doubt that it's been properly maintained. With no assurance of that it just seems too risky. I'll throw a lowball at him and see.

well boys... against everyone's advice, I'm gonna check it out.
![]() The seller will take 11,500 for it. It is a sweet looking truck. Plus western colorado truck = no rust which I like. So here's the next question. I need to inspect this truck tomorrow and I mean INSPECT it. I have a code reader, I know a lot of the basics (blowby from oil cap, bolts along exhaust, leaks, drips, etc.) I need to know anything I may not have thought of to check for on this truck. Basically if there's a reason to NOT buy the truck - I gotta find it. |

I bought my Arizona truck w/161K on it for $8600. That was about 2 years ago, better deals are out there. Don't settle...
