Ford vs Dodge

I guess I am confused. I have a 2002 F350 Crew Short box 4x4 7.3 and a friends father just bought a 2006 Dodge 2500 crew short box 5.9. Well I rode in the truck thinking it was going to be bad a** after hearing so much about how a Dodge will tear up a 7.3. Needless to say I was not impressed at all. Especially with the slow soft rpm dropping shifts between gears. I was very impressed with the smoothness and how you do not have to wait to start the motor. Just hop in and turn the key. Well after having a funny look on my face he asked if I wanted to run. I said sure why not. I was curious and I knew my 7.3 felt stronger but I was still lookinig to get my but handed to me by the Dodge. My truck has the 18k mod, AFE, Walker muffler, boost tube, relief valve and that is it. We lined up and run an 1/8th and I took him by a truck. Neither one of us was spinning or anything and he swears he was in it all the way. Now I am curious if he was messing with me. I know if he did a chip and other things he would spank me but I thought they were WAAAY faster in stock form.

the dodges should be faster when chipped out and other mods done, off the shelve though it would be close to the fords.
