The Right Diesel.

Not sure this is in the right place, but I wanted to get some general opinions from a mechanical and reliability stand point, what would be the route to go if I was trying to find a nice F250/F350 to keep for a while?

I wouldn't mind having a nice, late model 7.3, but I really like the look and the power of the '08 6.4. I found an '06 that I like a lot, but I am weary of the 6.0's reputation. I've heard from the diesel mechanics around town if I were to get a 6.0, try an '06-'07, more problems were ironed out by then.

I'd like to do mild mods, but I'm not interested in magazine numbers.

The truck would get everyday use, but other than pulling a single car hauler/cars around, I'm not going to work it to death.

Is it worth trying to find one of the last year 7.3s in good shape, are the late models 6.0s worth the money or is it worth waiting a little while and find an '08 that I like?

I'm biased because I own an '08 and have been very happy with it, even with the fact that I left the DPF on. Truck performs well and meets all of my expectations and then some.
