7.3, what to do?

I have a 7.3 with only 145,000 on it and it has scored cylinder walls #2 cylinder. Looking for advice on best way to get her back on the road, but for the long haul. I want the repair to be not just for the now but for the future. Should I get mine rebuilt, get a reman long block or reman complete drop in. The local diesel mechanic here. Says he has a 7.3 with 165,000 on it he will put in for $5000, fix mine but not rebuild for $5000 or Jasper reman drop in for $9000. Don't really like these options. If you have suggestions/ opinions or know of a shop here near the Cincinnati, Ohio area please let me know. All input is greatly appreciated!

you can always look into a a remaned short block. but i would just do a long block since either way you look at it the engine has to come out.

Sounds like a **** sandwich he's feeding you. I believe fords full drop in is like 9k and that's literally soup to nuts from top to bottom. You can get a 7.3 motor for less ten 5k from what i've seen, and should be able to have it rebuilt for less then 5k unless im missing something. Definitely way your options and do your research before any decision as it will be an important. All I can addfor my. 02 without saying somethig im not 100% sure about.

Sounds way overpriced in my opinion. I would look elsewhere.
