Resetting my keyless entry

First of all hello to everyone, this is my first post.
I bought a 2004 PSD and the owners didn't know the door code. I called the dealer and they told me I had to bring it in so they could scan it. My question is,does anyone know a way to reset it myself? I'd like to keep my $ to buy
FUEL if I can!! Thanks in advance. BR

u have to know the factory code to put in a different one, and even then, no matter what, the factory one will still work............Marc

Have you checked inside the door jambs to see if there may be a sticker with the code on it?

mom and dad leased an explorer in '96 and the code was in the owner's manual. might look there

I found a post an Excursion forum, with credit to rjs82vette:

"I have a 2002 X and it was on the box behind the radio. I took out the dash cup holder and the trash bag hook and use a flash light and a mirrior to read it. it was the large numbers on the box... cant miss it black box right behind the radio..."

"some other year models have it on the box behind the driversside cover. the one right behind the emer brake lever... "

Haven't checked this yet myself, despite not knowing my own door code.

the only record of it i know of is the little card that is about the size of a credit card that should have come with the truck at purchase......

so are you saying that even if you reset the code and use your own the original will still work? thats crazy

yeah the default code will always work my wife has the freestyle and i liked her code more (easier to remember) so i added her code to my truck, that way we only need to remember one code, and we took the collective 4 key fobs and programed both my truck and her car to all four of them so i hit the lock button twice in my drive way and i get honked at from both vehicles

there is a funny story that goes with that too

one time at my parents house my wifes car was parked close and my truck farther from the house, my daughter hit the red panic button and set of the freestyle, i grabed the keys, walked out the front door and hit the button...the car stoped but then the truck started, i hit it again and the truck stoped but the car started again so i ran to the car, and started the engine kinda funny and embarrasing at the same time
